Relaxation Techniques

Continue to practice your preferred breathing practice. Suggestions for good times to practice include:
When you wake up
When you get in your car, or on your bicycle//bus/metro
When you do your PMP (for the Settle portion)
When you begin studying
When you get to the office or sit down in class.
When talking with someone and practicing DNI
Before you go to bed


Awareness Practices

Snow Globe
Keep an eye on your Snow Globe this week. And occasionally check out other peoples Snow Globes

Landscape of the Mind.
When you feel agitated, look at the Landscape of the Mind illustration and see if you can locate yourself on it. Once each day take a few moments to reflect on your day and fill out the back of the Landscape Illustration handed out in class. Bring this with you to class.

DNI
Practice Do-Not Interrupt at least one day this week.

Writing Assignment

There is no writing assignment this week. Please come prepare to discuss what you learned in the chapter on Awareness. Zero in on the ways Awareness differs from Attention. Also, reflect on WHY/HOW a brighter Lightbulb of Awareness is beneficial. Think of at least one practical examples that can be discussed in class. In some ways this is a challenging chapter. It can also be one that offers you rich insights. If you have any questions you would like me to address in class, please text them to me.

Mindfulness Practice (at least 5-days)

You learn a new practice this week, Open Monitoring.

—Practice the 12- or 6-Open Monitoring practice at least five times. Recall that attending a Mindful Space counts as your daily practice.

Continue to note your practice using the Times, Duration, etc. boxes in the Practice Journal.

Informal Mindfulness Practice

Try to do the PMP Practice at your PMP Point at least once each day this week.
Also, practice "Drop the Story, Feel the Energy" when you find yourself feeling a bit stressed.
