Scott L. Rogers is founder and director of the Mindfulness in Law Program at the University of Miami School of Law. He has been a student of mindfulness for more than twenty-five years and has been sharing mindfulness at Miami Law since 2003. Professor Rogers feels privileged to be integrating mindfulness into the curriculum at Miami Law and finds working with students to be among the greatest sources of professional fulfillment.

Professor Rogers is Co-Chair of the Dade-County-Bar Association and Federal Bar Association's Mindfulness in Law Joint Task Force, and is co-founder of the University of Miami Mindfulness Research and Practice Initiative where he collaborates on neuroscience research exploring the enduring brain and behavior changes that may accompany mindfulness-training programs. He is a leader in the area of mindfulness and the law and works with law school faculty and administrators across the country interested in developing mindfulness classes and programs.

Professor Rogers earned a B.S. in 1981 and an M.S. in 1985 in psychology from University of Florida, and a J.D. from University of Florida College of Law in 1991, graduating summa cum laude. Upon graduating from law school, he clerked for Chief Judge Maurice Paul in the Northern District of Florida and with Rosemary Barkett, on both the Supreme Court of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Thereafter he practiced commercial litigation with White & Case and then joined an Internet company as its general counsel and president.

In 2012, Professor Rogers was awarded the "Richard Hausler Golden Apple Award" for his contributions, academically and through extra-curricular activities, to the student body. He was also presented with the "2012 Sookie Williams/Daily Business Review Award for Exemplary Service to the Miami-Dade Legal Community" for his work helping to integrate mindfulness into the legal profession. In 2015 the Florida Bar’s Center for Professionalism awarded him the Florida Bar Law Faculty Professionalism Award. In 2018 he was recipient of Mindful Kids Miami's "Mindfulness Ambassador" award. He is a regular columnist for the ABA GP Solo Journal's "Mindfulness 101" and The Florida Bar News' "The Mindful Lawyer" columns.

Professor Rogers is the author of numerous law review and bar journal articles on mindfulness in law, peer-review neuroscience papers on the efficacy of mindfulness practice in high stress professions, and of the books Mindfulness for Law Students: Applying the Power of Mindful Awareness to Achieve Balance and Success in Law School which is being used in law schools across the country, The Six-Minute Solution: A Mindfulness Primer for Lawyers, Mindful Parenting, Mindfulness and Professional Responsibility: A Guide Book for Integrating Mindfulness into the Law School Curriculum, "The Elements of Mindfulness," and the forthcoming law school text, "The Mindful Law Student" (August 2022).
